404 Demons #024

In the Edo period, the gods gave Momotaro a job: wipe out the demons that latched onto people with parasitic "bugs" and fed on their life force. He fought alongside three loyal vassals, Kensuke, Saruhiko and Yukijiro, until a single powerful demon nearly destroyed the whole group. Dying, Momotaro heard a god tell him to defeat that demon. His power would gather inside a peach, where he would be reborn, and one vassal would be made immortal to guard him while he slept.

Centuries pass and the modern Reiwa era arrives. The reborn Momotaro wakes up, only to find himself living in the body of a chicken. So begins his demon hunt in the present day, a fresh take on the old folktale hero.

This is volume 24 of 404 Demons by Mochi, the creator of Cuticle Detective Inaba and The Witch's Servant and the Demon Lord's Horn. It is a Japanese-flavored reincarnation fantasy told as a manga.
