A Feast Unknown

Lord Grandrith, the jungle-raised figure whose origins echo Tarzan, and Doc Caliban, the bronze-skinned crusader modelled on Doc Savage, are pitted against each other in a duel where defeat means death and victory brings endless life. Both men are pulp legends, yet the story asks who pulls the strings behind them.

As the two heroes are driven by desires they barely recognise, their formerly noble conduct gives way to rage, revenge, lust and violence. The action moves from the highlands of Ethiopia to the calm grounds of an English country house, where the private lives of these larger-than-life men are laid bare.

Philip José Farmer treats the reader to a sprawling, adult adventure that reimagines familiar pulp heroes as flawed, fully human figures. Its frank sexual content and brutal scenes make it suited only to mature readers.
