A Friendly King

The story opens at a dog pound, where the narrator's family chose a Border collie puppy named King. From the beginning he was treated as one of the household, yet he also grew into a dog the whole neighborhood knew and cherished. His everyday habits set him apart, including sleeping in the classroom at the family's son's school, and through these routines he made more friends in the community than his owners did.
