A Resilient Crown

In 2022 Queen Elizabeth II marked her Platinum Jubilee, seventy years on the throne. With her reign drawing toward its close, the monarchy in Canada has prompted a good deal of discussion and debate. This book looks at Canada's constitutional monarchy, its present condition and its future.

The topics include relations between the Crown and Indigenous peoples, the foundational place of the Crown in Canada's system of government, the viceregal offices and the role of the administrator, and the Crown and francophone Canada. Other chapters cover the prime ministers and the Queen, royal tours, and Queen Elizabeth herself.

The volume is a collection of essays by academics, serving and retired public servants, and well-known commentators. Together they examine the place of the Crown in Canada today.
