After Dark

Harmony is a world where the rules are not quite the ones you know, and Lydia Smith is having a bad stretch in it. A licensed para-archaeologist, she is still rattled by a disastrous episode inside an alien tomb. To pay the bills she has taken a part-time post at Shrimpton's House of Ancient Horrors, a shoestring museum that is a long way from the work she trained for. Lydia does have a plan to rebuild her career, but events keep getting in its way. First she finds a corpse tucked inside one of the museum's sarcophagus exhibits. Then she learns that her new client, Emmett London, ranks among the most dangerous men in the city. Neither discovery makes a comeback any easier. The story unfolds in the shadow of the Dead City of Old Cadence, where a murder, a risky client and a wary heroine collide. Jayne Castle, a pen name of Jayne Ann Krentz, mixes romance, mystery and a futuristic setting, and in this book the real trouble starts once night falls.
