Akira 6
About This Book
Neo-Tokyo has been wrecked and rebuilt in a 21st century that never recovered. Now the world's militaries are gathering against two beings whose psychic power is almost beyond measure: Akira, a mute child, and Tetsuo, a volatile young man whose grip on sanity is slipping. Akira has already flattened the city twice without meaning to. Tetsuo, for his part, has torn up the surface of the Moon simply because it amused him. Tetsuo's abilities keep growing, and so does his madness. The energy inside him has no limit, and he is steadily losing his ability to contain it. His body begins to change into something monstrous, a horror that no one could have pictured. As every side moves toward a last confrontation, the fate of the planet rests with ordinary people and with the mind of a child. This sixth volume concludes Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira, the science-fiction saga that has shaped storytellers around the world and across every medium. It closes the story on a note that is both devastating and mind-bending, and it delivers the huge scale, unforgettable imagery and singular vision that made the series a landmark of the graphic novel.
