All Caps

When the COVID-19 lockdown hit in March 2020, television producer Craig Colby found himself with no work. To mark the empty days, he wore a different baseball cap each morning and posted a photo of it online with the story behind it. Friends began sending their own caps and stories, and the project grew into a shared exchange.

After 125 days, Craig had no caps left, but he had come to see what each one said about his own life. While stuck in isolation, he lived through triumph and heartbreak, love and loss. His memories include meeting the sports heroes of his childhood and floating weightless alongside an astronaut.

The short pieces in this book each center on one cap and show how people stay connected to one another, even when they are apart.
