Also on View

Also on View is a guide to the lesser-known museums of Greater Los Angeles. It looks at the stories found just off the well-trodden path, in a region with more than 750 museums, many of which may be unfamiliar even to seasoned explorers.

The collections range from the deeply culturally significant, such as the Garifuna Museum, to the highly specific and unusual, such as the City of Los Angeles's Streetlight Museum. Other stops include the African American Miniature Museum, the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology, the Skid Row History Museum, the Finnish Folk Art Museum, the First Original McDonald's Museum and the Museum of Jurassic Technology.

Striking photographs accompany a wide range of histories, some critical, some curious and some remarkable, giving a broad survey of the diversity of the city. It is meant for readers planning their next outing to places that most visitors to Los Angeles never see.
