Altered states

Dr. Eddie Jessup is a young researcher who wants to understand how awareness first arose. To probe it, he floats in a sensory deprivation tank while under the influence of a potent hallucinogen. Each session pushes him further into his own mind, and the experiments reach back toward the most primal stage of existence. The novel is a frightening look at ambition, the limits of science, and what a human being might find at the edge of perception.
