An invisible thread

Laura Schroff was walking through Manhattan when a boy asked her for money. She had already passed him, but something pulled her back. What started as a single moment became a relationship of regular meetings that lasted for years and grew into a bond neither of them expected, one that is still going strong nearly thirty years later.

In this memoir, Schroff recounts her connection with Maurice, an 11-year-old boy living on the streets of New York City, and explains how their friendship altered the course of both their lives. She co-wrote the book with Alex Tresniowski.
