About this book
Who do we tell ourselves we are, so that our walls stay standing and our advantages stay safe? And what does it cost to challenge that order? This play reimagines the story of Antigone in a modern kingdom where the suffering beyond the city limits is kept out of view. Princess Alison, determined to reveal how her beloved cousin Henry died, is at the center of the conflict. At night Henry would dress as Andy, and he and Alison would climb the kingdom's walls to aid the migrants hidden from the public. Weighed down by the unfairness that his future rule would uphold, Henry took his own life. His mother, Queen Regina, presents his death as the act of a heroic knight and is prepared to do whatever it takes to silence Alison. The two women clash in a poetic struggle over power and prejudice, and when a push becomes a shove, it may already be too late for peace.
