Apollo Remastered

Apollo Remastered is a photographic history of the Apollo missions built from newly restored and previously unseen images from the NASA archives. It offers a fresh view of the lunar landings more than fifty years after humans first set foot on the Moon.

The original film from the Apollo missions is kept in a frozen vault in Houston, Texas. For about half a century, nearly every Moon landing image available to the public was made from lower-quality copies of those originals. Andy Saunders, an image restorer who works with NASA, spent several years working from newly available digital scans of the original film. Using careful restoration and modern enhancement techniques, he produced what are described as the highest-quality Apollo photographs ever made.

The book gathers hundreds of these images. They include spacewalks that have not been seen before, sharp portraits of astronauts inside their spacecraft, and new views of the Earth and the Moon. Together they form a record of every Apollo mission in high definition.
