Arborama

Written and illustrated by Lisa Voisard, this book introduces the trees of North America through a child's sense of wonder at the natural world. Voisard, who won the White Raven Award from the International Youth Library Foundation, makes Arborama her first book to appear in English.

The book traces how trees reproduce and grow, starting from tiny seeds and ending with some of the largest plants on earth. It also explains how trees make life possible for other living things and how they appear to communicate with one another.

Across more than 200 richly illustrated pages, readers learn to identify over 30 key North American trees. The selection ranges from familiar species such as the sugar maple and Douglas fir to less well-known ones such as the southern magnolia and the weeping willow.

Pitched at young readers and adults alike, the book invites everyone to notice and appreciate the trees all around them.
