Archangel's War

Archangel's War is the twelfth book in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series, set in a world where archangels rule and Elena Deveraux, once a human hunter, is now an angel and the consort of the archangel Raphael. The story opens with an ominous prophecy of silver and blue wings, a mortal heart and shattered dreams, a vision that ends on the edge of something terrible.

The Cascade, the surge of power that has been reshaping the world, is building toward a devastating peak. It is trying to make Elena a vessel for Raphael's power, and she fights it with everything she has. That resistance comes at a cost. Both Elena and Raphael are changed beyond recognition, in ways that go well past what a cursed Ancient once foretold.

Meanwhile, strange and violent events are spreading across the globe, and some threaten to wipe out whole populations. In the lands once ruled by the archangel Lijuan, an unnatural fog creeps over the landscape and leaves a chilling silence behind it. It soon becomes clear that the archangels themselves are not safe from whatever lies inside it.

The Cadre has faced many threats, but this one may be more than their combined strength can answer. With the world in chaos and the people Elena loves at risk, this is a darkly romantic paranormal tale about a war that could finish them all.
