Ares

Harmony 'Harm' Makos fights in an MMA ring every day, and not only for the fame. For her it takes the place of therapy, a way to keep in check the beast inside her that is always pushing to get out. A broken home and years of ridicule in high school hardened her, and she has learned to control her fury, though it never goes away.

When a letter threatening her life arrives, a bodyguard is assigned to stay with her at all times. Harm hates the idea, and her resentment grows when the bodyguard turns out to be Mars, a former MMA men's heavyweight champion. The two clash constantly, trade banter and are forced into close quarters. Harm begins to see that Mars is not what he seems. Visions of battle, chaos and destruction haunt her whenever he is near, and the red glint in his eyes hides more than a mystery. It points to a cure for the fury both of them carry, if they can learn to work together.

Ares is the third book in the Contemporary Mythos series but can be read on its own, though readers who have followed the series in order will spot some easter eggs. Content warning: mild violence, cursing and adult situations.
