Anne Blythe has a solid career, a close circle of friends, and the prospect of publishing her first novel. Romance is the one area that keeps falling short. When yet another relationship collapses, she recalls a business card she had tucked away and decides to call. Her best friend Sarah's engagement has left Anne feeling wistful, and she hopes a little outside help might finally lead her to the right man.

The card belongs to a costly, exclusive agency that arranges marriages rather than a dating site. Anne says no at first, but the longer she weighs the idea, and the firm's impressive track record, the more it appeals to her. Arranged marriages are the norm for millions of women worldwide, so she wonders why it couldn't work for her.

A few months later, Anne is heading to a resort in Mexico, where she will meet and marry Jack within a single weekend. Against expectations, things seem to be going well, until she discovers that Jack and the agency that matched them are not at all what they appear to be.
