About this book
Some scenes in this novel may disturb readers, and it is written for mature adult audiences only.
Martin Andrews is a police officer who has grown weary of his work. Day after day he deals with muggings, robberies, prostitution and other small-time crime, and he has little hope left for the world. With his wife close to giving birth, he is anxious to give their child a decent future. Among the everyday offenses he handles, however, a far more dangerous threat is taking shape.
The threat comes from a man who recognizes no boundaries. He has conceived an ambitious artistic project, a work he is determined to make into a masterpiece that will bring him the acclaim he wants, whatever it costs him and others. As Andrews pursues this figure, the case pressures him toward his mental breaking point.
The book is a collaboration between Matt Shaw, author of Sick B*stards, Happy Ever After and The Cabin, and Michael Bray, author of Whisper, Funhouse and MEAT. Shaw narrates from the perspective of the killer, while Bray narrates from the perspective of the detective, so the reader sees both sides of the conflict. The two authors bring the story to a single shared conclusion. The novel explores the darkest and most twisted corners of the human mind.
