Artificial Intelligence Supported Educational Technologies

This volume gathers extended versions of papers first presented at the 2019 Sino-German Symposium on AI-supported educational technologies, held in Wuhan, China, in March 2019. The authors are leading researchers from computer science and the learning sciences.

The chapters fall into four parts: overviews and systematic perspectives, example systems, algorithms, and insights from empirical studies. Several chapters look at how data mining and machine learning can be used to build profiles of learners in different learning situations. These profiles cover interaction patterns, cognitive modes, knowledge and skills, interests and emotions. The chapters also connect these methods to measurement approaches in psychology and the learning sciences.
