Ascension

Rhys McGowan has spent his whole life chasing two things: power and love. At last he seems to have both. He is High Priest of the most prestigious secret society in Boston, married to his devoted witch wife Moira, and in a relationship with David, the psychic who started out as his rival. For once, Rhys is content.

Then a strange ritual sends shockwaves through the city's occult community and leaves the Society exposed to sabotage. Rhys responds the way he always has, by sinking further into the dangerous craft of demon-summoning. Shouldering responsibility is nothing new to him, but now he has a crowd of spirits to manage, and the pressure is made worse by the strain of watching the people he loves explore connections with other partners. It begins to wear him down to the breaking point.

With heaven and hell each pulling at his soul, Rhys must confront the one enemy he cannot banish with a circle and a candle: his own boundless ambition.

Ascension is the second book in the Summoner's Circle series and the follow-up to Evocation. Familiar faces return for a darker story, aimed at readers who enjoy classic urban fantasy.
