Earth is dying, and eight generations of pioneers set out on a voyage lasting 300 years to find humanity a new home. Their goal is to secure the survival of the species on a distant exoplanet.

The settlers carry a DNA database of more than a million Earth species, which they use to build a new world. But what they find on arrival overturns everything they expected, and it ties them to beings that defy the very nature of the universe.
