About this book
Aurora Burning is the second book in the Aurora Cycle, a science fiction series that follows Aurora Rising. Amie Kaufman writes it with Jay Kristoff, her co-author on the Illuminae Files. The series centres on Squad 312, a group of misfits, losers and discipline cases who may turn out to be the galaxy's best chance of survival.
The bad news is that an ancient evil, the kind that consumes all life in the galaxy, is about to be unleashed. The squad is ready to stop it, but first they have a few distractions to handle. A clan of gremps wants to rearrange their favorite faces. A group of illegitimate GIA agents, with strange flowers where their eyes used to be, will stop at nothing to get hold of Auri. Kal's long-lost sister is not happy to see him, and she has a Syldrathi army behind her. With half the known galaxy after them, the squad has never been so wanted.
When word arrives that the Hadfield has been found, the squad has to leave hiding. The colony ship vanished two centuries ago, leaving Auri as its only survivor, and its black box could be what saves them. Time is short, though, and Auri must learn to master her powers as a Trigger. If she cannot, the squad and everyone chasing them will end up as extinct as the Great Ultrasaur of Abraaxis IV.
The story promises shocking revelations, bank heists, mysterious gifts, some very tight bodysuits and a major firefight. All of it will decide the fate of the Aurora Legion's most memorable heroes, and perhaps of the rest of the galaxy.
