Badlands

Jaqueline Cole used to be the perfect, pretty daughter, a popular cheerleader on the honor roll. At seventeen, her life blows apart. Her mother goes through a midlife crisis, her troubled older brother runs away, and her father reacts by becoming even more paranoid, stingy and controlling. Jaq reaches her limit.

She begins lashing out in violent and destructive ways, determined to make her family and everyone else feel what it is like to have a life ruined. After an act of vandalism, she is arrested. Her exhausted father makes a hard choice and has her dropped in the Idaho Badlands with a group of other problem teens, hoping a thirty-day survival program will reform her.

The first days are nothing but struggle, and then Jaq begins to think the program might not be so bad. Then kids and counselors start turning up murdered, and what began as a wilderness survival adventure becomes a matter of life and death. One way or another, the Badlands will change Jaq forever.
