Baobab Tree

When the world was new, the gods made the very first tree, and to everyone's surprise it could speak. It was not a contented tree. From morning until night it complained, sulked and fussed without pause. This retelling of a traditional tale follows that restless tree and the divine beings who must decide what to do about its endless grievances.

The story comes from an older oral tradition and is written for young readers. Free online audio narration is available, so children can listen to the tale as well as read it.
