About this book
Latasha Morrison argues that Christians can no longer sit out the conversation about race. Many people, she observes, hold back because they fear saying or doing the wrong thing, and in many churches that hesitation has hardened into a silence that speaks loudly. Be the Bridge is her call to move past it.
The book grows out of a series of honest group conversations among Christians willing to name old hurts, private fears, and rising tension. Those talks became the seed of Be the Bridge, a nonprofit and global movement that aims to help churches respond to racism and racial division in a way that is distinctly Christian and capable of real change. Morrison, who founded it, explains how readers can take part and set up the same kind of work where they live.
She walks through the tangled history of racism and then turns to scripture for a way forward, drawing on lamentation, confession, and forgiveness as the groundwork for restoration. Prayers, discussion questions, and other group resources are included so that the book can be worked through with others rather than read alone.
The result is an invitation for every follower of Jesus to become a bridge builder, someone who pursues justice and racial unity out of gospel conviction. The book has won both the Christian Book Award and the Christianity Today Book Award.
