Be Wild

Being compared to a beast is not always an insult. This nonfiction picture book argues that the natural world offers useful lessons in courtesy and good conduct. Young readers discover, for example, that orangutans tidy their sleeping spots every day and that warthogs take a seat when it is time to eat.

Throughout, the book gathers a range of fascinating observations about how different animals behave, and it connects each one to a sound habit children can adopt. Its aim is to encourage kids to channel the spirit of an elephant, an octopus, or a sloth in their own daily lives.
