Beaver Dam
About This Book
A young beaver is driven by a love of construction, and building dams is simply what beavers do. Along the way he makes new friends. After he finishes what he considers the largest dam of his life, he sets out to explore beyond the place he knows. The journey is sometimes frightening, since he is heading somewhere unfamiliar. Still, his new surroundings have more trees, and many of them are different from the ones at home, giving him fresh material for more dams. The story is told through illustrations of animal characters who spend their days outdoors, exploring new places and doing what they enjoy most. Elizabeth Louise Strouth was born in Indiana, but her family moved often, and she finished high school in Connecticut. Her father was an Air Force veteran, and her mother was born in Ireland. Strouth grew up with four older brothers. She is a mother of two and has one grandchild, and she lives in New York State. Art has interested her since childhood, and she holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts. Reading children's books aloud to her own children inspired her to write and illustrate books of her own. Animals and the outdoors are her main sources of inspiration, and she enjoys bicycling, walking, watching wildlife, and looking at plants and trees.
