Becoming Ted

Ted Ainsworth has spent his working life inside his family's ice-cream firm in the seaside town of St Luke's-on-Sea, Lancashire. He has no real interest in the business and does not even enjoy ice cream, but he has never admitted this to his parents.

When his husband leaves without warning, Ted's world is thrown into disarray. The split also raises a question: could this be the moment to put his own wishes first? Ted holds a private dream that he has never shared with anyone, and the novel follows him as he begins to consider it.

The story explores love, friendship and the difficulty of being honest with yourself and others.
