About this book
The story is set in the mid-2000s, when the newspaper industry is going through a seismic shift. Two journalists from rival papers are forced to cooperate and find that opposites really do attract.
Sebastian Percival Hudson has a grand name but is thoroughly down to earth. He makes his living traveling the deep South and writing slice-of-life pieces for the struggling newspaper in his picturesque small town. Over the years he has crossed paths with Jade Smith, a type-A former reporter who now works as a marketing executive at the Gardenville Gazette. The Gazette is a mid-sized city paper that has just been bought by a media conglomerate, and the conglomerate has Sebastian's paper in its sights.
Sebastian asks Jade to help him stop the takeover. To do it, the two of them have to get past their own quirks, foibles, and competitive instincts, and work out what matters most to them.
