Behind the Net

Behind the Net is a romance about a woman who ends up working as the live-in assistant to the grumpy hockey goalie she had a crush on in high school. After her ex wrecked her hopes in the music industry, she has sworn off heartbreak. A job assisting an NHL player was supposed to be easy, but Jamie Streicher is anything but. He is intimidatingly good-looking, surly, and full of ego, and he seems unable to stand her. She is confident she can keep things professional, even when he insists she move in with him.

Under the gruff exterior, though, Jamie turns out to be sweet and protective. When he learns how poor her ex was in bed, his competitive streak kicks in, and he sets out to encourage and spoil her in every way. The creative spark she once felt for songwriting returns, and she starts writing music again.

She wears his jersey at games, joins rowdy parties with his teammates, and finds the courage to perform on stage again. Through all of it she is falling for him, knowing he could break her heart and wondering whether it might be worth the risk.
