Between burning worlds

Between Burning Worlds is the sequel to Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody. It is a science fiction story that combines the revolutionary spirit of Les Misérables with the futuristic adventure of The Lunar Chronicles.

The planet Laterre is close to war. The Third Estate is rioting against the injustices of a corrupt system, and the Patriarche, still reeling from the murder of his only heir, is trying to crush the unrest by brutal means. At the same time, a new militant faction has begun a series of deadly attacks. Three outlaws are drawn into the turmoil.

Marcellus has become a traitor to his own planet. He is willing to do whatever it takes to keep his grandfather from seizing control of Laterre, even if that means joining the Vangarde, a rebel group thought to be dead. Chatine is a prisoner on the moon of Bastille, where she fights to survive the harsh conditions and ends up caught in the Vangarde's risky plan to free their infamous leader. Alouette is a fugitive who has been lied to all her life. As she searches for the truth about her mysterious past, she finds the Regime hunting her for reasons she is only starting to grasp.

When a deadly new weapon threatens Laterre, the three must risk everything. Their path takes them to the far reaches of the System Divine and into the burning heart of a planet on the verge of exploding.
