About this book
During the 1980s Jason Donovan was a household name, first as Scott Robinson on Neighbours, where he was paired with Charlene, played by Kylie Minogue. The two became the decade's best-known celebrity couple, and their 1988 duet Especially For You topped the charts, a Stock Aitken Waterman production.
Beneath the wholesome image he had cultivated, Donovan was sinking into a dependence on recreational drugs. He later credits a loving relationship with a woman for hauling him back from that downward slide. His music career took off and he sold more than 30 million records worldwide. He also performed in West End productions, including Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat and, more recently, The Rocky Horror Show.
Just as he reached the height of his success, things fell apart. He sued the style magazine The Face after it described him as gay, and the press responded by savaging him. Heavy drug use and excessive partying followed for years.
In this memoir Donovan speaks openly about the drugs that almost ended his career, his relationship with Kylie Minogue, and how his life settled with his partner Angela and their two children.
