Between Two Worlds

The story of 18-year-old Roma Brand, daughter of Hasidic parents, who seeks equality in a man's world. She falls in love with an assimilated Jew, but since her very Orthodox father forbids the marriage, they elope. The story of how Roma copes with her father's and husband's antagonism, while struggling to be accepted as a person, is further intensified by its turbulant setting―the collapse of the Polish army in 1939, the three-week occupation of her home town of Niemerov by the Germans and, and finally, by the entering Russians.
