Beyond All Thinking

Joann Scoma McElroy tells the story of her persistent pursuit of personal goals in this memoir, following her ambitions through each decade of her life. Writing in her eighties, she looks back on the setbacks she encountered, the successes she achieved, and the lessons they taught her.

One of the most striking chapters of her life came in her late seventies, when she earned a PhD in clinical counseling. Her account shows that the pursuit of a dream does not have to end with middle age, and that a person can still set and reach new goals well into later life.
