Beyond Bold
About This Book
Beyond Inspiration, Collaboration, Evolution follows the next generation of leaders at Oehme van Sweden (OvS), a landscape architecture firm that has been designing outdoor spaces for nearly fifty years. Three principals, Sheila Brady, Lisa Delplace and Eric Groft, share firsthand commentary alongside photographs and detailed project plans. Together these form a record of the firm's history and how it has changed over time.
OvS is known for sustainable residential work shaped around each client. Its current leaders have built a body of work that honors the firm's legacy while also exploring new directions. The projects range from private gardens and swimming pools to large public sites, including the Tippet Rise Art Center in rural Montana and the botanical gardens in Chicago and New York.
The book is organized into five thematic chapters: "The House and its Garden," "Gathering Places," "At the Water's Edge," "Urban Retreats," and "Farms and Fields." Because the projects vary widely in location and style, the book offers a broad, richly illustrated look at contemporary landscape design.
