Birthright

A construction crew in Woodsboro, a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, turns up human bones about five thousand years old. The find pulls archaeologist Callie Dunbrook away from her sabbatical and onto the site, where she takes charge of the excavation.

The dig is not a peaceful one. Death and bad luck keep following the project, and locals begin whispering that the ground is cursed. Callie has to sort out what is really going on while the work, and the town's nerves, grow more strained.

Her personal life is no calmer. Her ex-husband, Jake, is on hand again, as infuriating as ever and just as hard to resist. Then a stranger arrives claiming to know something about her privileged Boston upbringing, and Callie starts to doubt what she has always believed about where she comes from. Birthright mixes romance, suspense and a mystery buried in both the earth and the family past.
