Blue Boy

Kiran Sharma is an only son, and that comes with expectations: do well in school, find a nice Indian girl, and make his parents proud. The trouble is that he has little in common with other Indian kids beyond the colour of his skin, and they shut him out. His American classmates are no kinder.

Kiran plays with dolls, picks ballet over basketball and takes the school talent show far too seriously. His secrets are not well kept, and the things that make him himself also turn him into the star of his own private freak show, welcome in no group.

Then comes a revelation. Perhaps what he wants is not too earthly but too divine, and the answer to the puzzle of who he is has been in front of him since birth. What follows is a strange journey, at once sublime, ridiculous and painfully beautiful, that leads Kiran toward the truth about himself.
