Bone Raiders

Bone Raiders opens a fantasy series from Jackson Ford, set among the grasslands of the Tapestry. The Rakada, known to everyone else as the Bone Raiders, are a fearsome people who decorate their horses and armour with the bones of those they have killed. A band of them harnesses the power of gigantic, fire-breathing lizards to defend their homeland.

Life as a raider has become hard. A new Great Khan rules the Tapestry, he has lost patience with the raider clans, and he intends to use his large military against them. Meanwhile the araatan, fire-breathing lizards as big as elephants, roam the grasslands looking for food as supplies run short.

Sayana is a Rakada scout who loves her work. To keep it, she has to do something drastic: persuade her clan to ride araatan instead of horses. She has no idea how to do that without being eaten or cooked alive, but she needs to find a way quickly, or her clan and every other raider in the Tapestry will be wiped out.
