Boney

While wandering through the woods, Annabelle finds an animal bone and decides it will be her new toy. She names him Boney. At first he is a wonderful companion: they eat together, visit the park, and read a bedtime story before she settles him into a little bed made from a shoebox. Her mother is occupied with the new baby, so Annabelle and Boney spend a lot of time side by side.

Then wild creatures begin roaming through Annabelle's dreams, and for the first time she starts to wonder where Boney truly belongs.

Cary Fagan and Dasha Tolstikova, both award-winning picture-book creators, wrote and illustrated this thoughtful story. It invites young readers to look at the natural world with fresh curiosity and to recognize the wild side that lives in everyone.
