Bronze mirror

Fires Blaze in history's fantastice mirrors. A trickster monkey, divine bureaucrats, a pleasure-loving maid in an aristocratic household: all play their parts in the storytellers' games. "Larsen's time-riddling, worlds-whirling magical show takes place in the palaces of the immortals...also on the earth of medieval China (here, the Southern Soong of A.D. 1136), and spaces in-between...A quite special pleasure." Kirkus Reviews "Anyone with a fondness for satire, sentiment, and high style will prize Bronze Mirror and return to it, surprised each time by the levels of meaning that Larsen packs into her richly textured prose."
