Brown Angels

Brown Angels is an album of photographs and poems that celebrates African-American childhood. Walter Dean Myers, the American author of many books for children and young readers, chose a number of images from his own collection of turn-of-the-century photographs that had long been forgotten.

He set his own poems beside the pictures, and together they form a gentle tribute to children of a century ago. The book carries the thought that the child in each of us is our most precious part.
