Calhoun County

Calhoun County is located in the northeastern corner of Alabama, within the Coosa Valley, where the terrain climbs into the lower slopes of the Appalachians. The county was once called Benton County, and that earlier name remains part of its local story.

Much of what is known about the county's past survives in photographs held by the Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County. Its Alabama Room keeps these materials and serves as a source of historical and genealogical information for the area.
