Calling All Stations

Edward Hawkins is twelve. The fighting of the Great War has ended, but a harder struggle is just beginning for him. His father, a veteran of that war, has kept him shut away in a lighthouse on a isolated stretch of the Scottish coast. Edward's only links to the outside world are a wireless set and a worn copy of Treasure Island, which feed his longing for a life of adventure on the open sea.

One day an unexplained radio signal sets off a perilous journey. It carries Edward from the bleak Scottish shoreline to the deserts of Morocco, where the Rif War is being fought with brutal force. Among the rogues and bandits he encounters there, he must draw on all his quick wits and courage simply to survive.
