About this book
Calypso is a science fiction epic told in verse. Rochelle wakes from cryostasis to take up her post as engineer aboard the colony ark Calypso. She finds that the ship has become a forest, home to the descendants of the original crew, who revere her like a saint.
She travels through the ship with its creator, the enigmatic Sigmund, and with Catherine, a bioengineered marvel who can commune with plants. Together they uncover a new human history that took shape while Rochelle slept.
She learns of a long war between the botanists and the engineers. They are fighting over how to build a new Earth: a technological paradise, or a new Eden in bloom, untouched by humanity's past. Rochelle was the last to wake, and the balance of power rests with her.
The novel is a lyrical work of eco-fiction, set among colony ships, shattering moons and war in a new Eden.
