Cathy's Book

This book is the journal of Cathy Vickers, a sarcastic, independent, self-described wannabe artist who has little enthusiasm for high school. One day her boyfriend simply leaves. Insulted, angry and confused, Cathy sets out in her journal to find out why.

She writes the journal so that her best friend, Emma, can use it to find her. The pages hold clues and "evidence" Cathy collected, such as pictures, receipts and objects she came across, along with her comments and doodles in the margins.

The book is written in an informal style, with text lingo, instant message chats and handwritten notes from Cathy. It was designed to be paired with alternate reality game elements. It is the first book in a series, written by Sean Stewart and Jordan Weisman.
