Caveat emptor

Doctor Gaius Petreius Ruso is stationed in the far reaches of the Roman Empire, where he has come to count on three certainties: death, taxes and angry barbarians. This time he finds himself caught up in a conspiracy that grows more dangerous by the day.

The plot draws together theft, forgery and buried treasure, and it is tied to the legacy of Boudica, the rebel queen. Caveat Emptor is the fourth novel in Ruth Downie's Medicus series of mysteries set in Roman Britain.
