Charlotte’s Web

On foggy mornings, the web on the farm is a thing of beauty. One day the farmhand Lurvy brings the pig his breakfast, notices the web, and stops short. Woven into the centre in neat block letters is a message: SOME PIG!

The story begins with a girl named Fern, who loves a little pig called Wilbur. His closest friend on the farm is Charlotte, a large and beautiful grey spider. When Fern's uncle decides Wilbur is destined to become bacon, Fern, Charlotte, Templeton the rat and the rest of the farmyard animals work out a clever plan to fool the humans and save him.

E. B. White's tale is funny, joyful and deeply moving. It is about friendship and about what makes each of us special, and it has been loved by children for generations. This edition is part of the Puffin Classics series, and the original illustrations are by Garth Williams.
