Chasing Fate

Nadia and Anthony meet in Nigeria, where an easy friendship between them slowly grows into something more. Before Anthony returns to America after visiting his family, he tells Nadia that he will help her if she ever gets the chance to travel abroad.

Three years later that chance arrives, but her long-awaited trip to the United States does not unfold as hoped, and she must rely on herself in an unfamiliar place. When she and Anthony finally reunite, they share a weekend that feels warm and hopeful, and for a while things seem to be going well. Then Anthony announces that he is preparing to marry someone else, and Nadia is left pregnant and without the man she loves.

In the aftermath she turns to Nick, an American man who offers her the security and happiness she has long wanted, including the love she had given up on finding once Anthony was gone. Their life together is interrupted when a car accident kills her husband, leaving Nadia alone again. A sudden turn of events then places her in a painful position, forcing her to decide between helping Anthony, the man who broke her heart, and risking the loss of the people who matter most to her.

The story covers more than fifteen years of heartache, with a child shared between Nadia and Anthony. It follows how she faces this nearly impossible decision and what she is willing to give up to make it.
