Cinderelliot

Cinderelliot is a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale in which the central romance is between two men. Its hero is stuck at home caring for a stepsister and stepbrother who take him for granted. When Prince Samuel announces a kingdom-wide contest to find a royal baker, the stepsiblings insist that Cinderelliot bake their entries, leaving him no time to enter himself.

Fairy Godfather Ludwig steps in with magic. He helps Cinderelliot bake a chocolate cake, tidy the kitchen, and travel to the competition by limousine. At the bake-off the prince is captivated by Cinderelliot's cake, but the hero must hurry away when the clock strikes midnight and leaves his chef's hat behind.

The next day Prince Samuel searches the kingdom for the owner of the hat and finds that it fits Cinderelliot perfectly. The prince gains both a new royal baker and the man he loves, and Cinderelliot creates a grand wedding cake as the two begin their life together. The book was named to the American Library Association's Rainbow Book List in 2023.
