About this book
This picture book looks at the crow, a bird that is familiar to most children but still full of surprises. Crows don't have showy feathers, lovely songs or impressive flying skills, but they have very big brains, so when a crow fixes you with its small, round eye, it really is thinking.
The book shares a range of curious facts about how crows behave. They poke sticks into crevices to coax out tasty bugs, and they play much as children do, for example by tumbling down a snowy roof. They also remember where they have hidden their food, and sometimes they only pretend to bury a treat so that other birds will be fooled.
Chris Butterworth wrote the text and Olivia Lomenech Gill created the expressive artwork. The book is meant for young bird-watchers and anyone curious about the natural world, and it aims to give readers new respect for a bird they see every day.
