Code of Courage

Detective Danni Grace has spent fifteen years on the police force in La Rosa, the city she calls home. When an officer's shooting of a civilian sets off riots and open calls to abolish the department, her world tilts. A demonstrator's thrown chunk of concrete leaves her injured, and the hostility aimed at officers rattles her so badly that she realizes her commitment to the job has faded.

During her leave, a local community activist is killed, and a fellow officer is accused of the crime. Danni is drawn back into a role she is no longer sure she can fill, and she must work closely with her ex-husband, Gabriel Fox, an investigator for the city prosecutor's office.

To solve the case, Danni has to draw on her own sense of integrity. She must find the truth, prevent another wrong, and keep faith with her promise to protect and serve the people of La Rosa.
